Converted Barracks – Wrexham
Targeted towards the young professional, this local well established
developer had taken on a huge project of converting a number of
redundant barrack blocks into 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.
The overall design scheme needed to attract a younger market and
a decision was made to present both a 1 bedroom and a 2 bedroom
apartment to help potential buyers to visualise the room’s layout.
The 1 bedroom apartment was dressed in a striking red and black colour
scheme that would suite a single person or couple whereas the two
bedroom apartment showed a modern but subtler colour scheme to reflect
the possibility of a young family living there.
The most striking part of the two showhomes were the fabric panels
hanging against each window. Being an old building, the windows and
ceilings were extremely high but the windows were quite narrow and
rather than taking a simple option of hanging roman blinds to each
window we decided to ‘celebrate’ the height of the ceilings and by
using a panel gliding system this produced a window treatment that
gave the feeling of large art against the wall drawing your eye to
the ceiling.
